Do LED circuit designers dream of electric sheep**?

April 8, 2009

Usually I’m drawing your attention to neat pico projector designs as examples of leading-edge  applications for HB LEDs, but here’s a slightly different example of thinking-outside-of-the-flock in applying HB LEDs in new and, um, unusual ways:

We will have no sheepherding demos at EDN’s LED Workshop in Santa Clara, but we will have papers and demos covering power, thermal, and color management for designing with HB LEDs, as well as a panel discussion featuring the top HB LED manufacturers, including Cree, Lumileds, and Osram. Sign up now because the Workshop is just about full

**For those of you unfamiliar with the writings of Philip K. Dick, his book, “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” was later turned into the Harrison Ford movie, “Bladerunner.”

Certainly some of the incredible hillside patterns are fake. I think that the sheep did get equipped with LED vests for some of the scenes. The video is an ad and I think it''s brilliant. Everyone should get a chuckle from it.

FYI, the video is a fake. Some people think that it''s an artifact of the time lapse camera, but it''s clearly fake.
