YouTube for Engineers. Really!
While enjoying the great American holiday—Thanksgiving—my thoughts go to non-work activities like football or watching videos of someone on YouTube doing crazy stunts. YouTube has become America’s Funniest Home Videos on Google.
But now it’s gaining more and more traction as a source for instructional content.
When searching on it for “oscilloscope measurements,” 192 results popped up—and most of these are showing me how to perform everything from a simple measurement to more advanced tips and tricks. Some of the better ones have well over 10,000 views. YouTube can be a great resource if you’re stuck in a rut or just looking for inspiration.
Do you have any good video ideas? Or perhaps you uncovered a hidden feature or shortcut? This holiday, break out your video camera and let us all see what you’re up to. Or drop me a note with ideas of videos you would like to see on the Tektronix channel. Sometimes there’s no substitute for scopes, camera, action.

Curious that you invite our youtube posts, yet your IT people don't enable us to eaaily do so.
I'm enjoying the Wile E Coyote engineering here in Thailand. Here's a vid I took of desperate flood measures. A boat, lashed to a bridge pylon, "pushing water downstream" towards the sea www.youtube.com/user/vidznstuff1#p/a/u/1/Kygp1CqQTNs
Water has started to recede now.
