Webcast on opportunities in military and aerospace market
Avnet Electronics Marketing and Actel tomorrow will discuss opportunities for low-power FPGAs in embedded military applications in a Webcast sponsored by PennWell and Military & Aerospace.
I’ll be tuning in to hear what Avnet has to say about the military and aerospace market, which is an opportunity some distributor have put on the backburner in the wake of environmental compliance regulations like EU RoHS that allow acceptations for manufactures in these fields, which in turn force component manufactures to produce both compliant parts for a large portion of their customer base and grandfathered non-compliant parts for those military and aerospace customers. Many of the companies in military and aerospace that I’ve spoken to over the last year that EU RoHS has been in law have noted difficulty finding the non-RoHS parts they need, particularly leaded parts, as component makers shift gears to serve larger markets like consumer electronics that are not exempt.
Speaking will be Actel’s Ken O’Neill, director, military and aerospace marketing, and Joe Tillison, technical marketing director, Avnet Electronics Marketing. The Webcast’s (overly confident) name is “FPGAs Do It All” and starts on Wednesday at noon pacific/3pm eastern. Those interested can register here.
