Lean supply chain for news, business and tech

March 30, 2007

By now, I’m sure you’ve noticed that there’s something different about our Web site. Namely, that there’s a lot more to it.

In terms that I know this audience will understand, what we’ve done is created a lean supply chain, if you will, for Electronic News, Electronic Business and EDN’s online content. Now you can get Electronic News’ real-time breaking news content, analysis from Electronic Business and engineering know-how from EDN all on one easy to navigate site.

Making the decision to go from three independent sites to one “super site,” as we’ve been calling it behind the scenes, ends duplicated efforts among our teams of editors and allows each of the three publications to focus on what it does best. And that gives you — our readers and, for the matter of this lean supply chain example, our customers — the best end product, a Web site that provides a true whole world view of the electronics industry.

Whether you need to know how the latest chip works, how that chip will impact the market or when that chip will roll out, our team has you covered. Best of all, if you just want to keep up to date on a specific electronics vertical, say the electronics supply chain, you can. You’ll find a bar at the top of EDN.com with drop down menus to our three business centers (electronics supply chain, semiconductor manufacturing and business strategy), as well as technical design centers and a link to our news center, where you will find the bulk of Electronic News’ content.

No more wasting time jumping from site to site, searching through indirectly related content. One click to EDN.com and you’ll find all the information you need under one cyber roof.

So what are your thoughts on our lean supply chain for news, business and tech how-to? Blog back and let me know.
