Is KLA general counsel going down too for stock option misdeeds?
After the hoopla last week as Brocade’s former CEO was found guilty of stock options fraud, it seems the path has been cleared for more tech execs to be dealt with harshly.
Now, semiconductor manufacturing equipment provider KLA Tencor’s stock option woes are growing. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is preparing to file civil charges against Lisa Berry, the former general counsel of KLA-Tencor and Juniper Networks Inc., in connection with schemes to backdate stock options at both companies.
According to Law.com, Berry, now works for privately held Tellme Networks Inc. in Los Gatos, Calif. She was general counsel of KLA in 1997, when its options misdeeds began. She left KLA in June 1999 for Juniper.
Here is a great analysis by the Wall Street Journal, and another on Law.com.
Who will be next is anyone’s guess, but I will be watching to see what happens with this case.
