With lots to learn, discover, and review, DESIGN East 2012 in Boston this week was surely not your father’s Embedded Systems Conference.

Tuesday morning at Design East 2012, Chris Hyde from ADI gave this first analog “design choices, compromises and decisions” presentation including performance considerations, architectural choices and common issues/gotchas.


Hyde discussed bridge sensor challenges and solutions with associated equations, bridge biasing, and linearity discussion.


The first keynote speaker, Mike Walsh gave a look into the future where “Demographics are destiny” and “It’s about anthropology, not just technology” -- listen to the people!


A full house of attendees listened to Walsh as he gave concrete examples of how cloud-based medical devices like a Star Trek Tri-corder will be a tremendous success in Africa; how Kick Starter products that get the most funding has the developer with the best story; how we need to immerse ourselves into the world of the consumer/users and capture their imaginations with “magic” (aka engineering).


More analog with Dr. Jose Fernandez Villasenor, a brain surgeon and an EE Medical manager at Freescale. Health insights and trends were discussed and electronic products to monitor and enhance our heath in preventive medicine.
