ST Microelectronics Inc. has launched new members of the STM32 family, based on the Cortex-M3 core from ARM Holdings Ltd.  The 32F1xx series now includes embedded flash memory blocks ranging from 64 to 256 Kbytes, based on 90-nm process technology.  The family members include controllers optimized for performance, general access, USB access, and serial/LAN connectivity.  Flash blocks also will be added to the STM32W wireless line.

All members of the STM32 line feature dual 12-bit DACs, up to six 16-bit timers, up to five USARTs, three SPIs, and dual I2Cs, as well as a real-time clock.  CPU core frequencies range from 36 to 72 MHz, and optional interfaces include CAN, USB 2.0, and IEEE 1588.

Cortex controllers based on the 90-nm process with embedded flash will sample to selected customers in the fourth quarter, with volume production slated for early 2010.
