Saelig Company Inc. has introduced the IOW24-DG, a dongle to link I2C to USB for interconneced sensors, test circuits, and host computers. The I2C master interface operates at 100 kHz, providing a throughput of 750 bytes/sec. A programmable time-out function prevents the master from being hung up by malfunctioning slaves. The dongle also supports handshakes via clock stretching. The dongle complies with standard USB mechanical dimensions, and consequently does not block other USB ports in a multiport host. The dongle is based on the IO-Warrior24 chip developed by CodeMercenaries, and all software and firmware developed for IO-Warrior can be used by the IOW24-DG, including applications under Linux, Windows, and MacOS. Dongles are available now, with pricing starting at $39.00 each in single-unit quantities.
