Kontron to offer Intel i7 across multiple buses

VPX, AMC, and Compact PCI to feature i7 and QM57 chips

Kontron announced this week it will standardize on the use of the Intel i7, based on 32-nm process technology, across its entire product line, including VPX, Advanced Mezzanine Card, Compact PCI, and other board architectures.  The Core i7 utilizes a dual-chip architecture, in which the i7 performs primary control-plane CPU duties, while the QM57 Express chipset performs I/O and advanced logic functions.

Kontron already has introduced the VX6060 and AM4020 based on i7, and plans on several additional product introductions across several bus architectures in the coming months.
