Power system management design
The focus of the blog will be power system design and integration of PMBus-controlled devices. It will be oriented to the analog engineer who may not be familiar with these devices, what problems they solve, or how to architect high-availability multi-rail systems.
Linduino Power System Management (PSM)
- 03.09.2015
While many engineers use a dongle and tools to configure Power System Management devices via PMBus, a growing number of designs are adding Board Management Controllers, or connecting their PMBus to an existing microcontroller or application processor.Read More...
Relative voltage margins and limits introduced to PMBus 1.3 specification
- 05.10.2014
Relative voltage margins and limits simplify design of the PMBus host controller since the power device is responsible for changing margins and limits. Read More...
AVSBus: How do I use it?

System configurations for power systems based on PMBus 1.3
- 02.27.2014
This article shows several ways to implement a power management controller using the new PMBus Revision 1.3 specification, and addresses several new considerations with architecting a system using this new specification.Read More...
The PMBus 1.3 specification addresses faster alert response, device discovery and system control by introducing Zone Reads and Zone Writes
- 02.08.2014
Previously I discussed the idea of Global Process Call as a method of getting prioritized data from every PMBus device within a system. The industry listened and responded with a request for getting data from a targeted subset of devices. A desire for data writes to all or some devices was also voiced. Read More...
