Carolyn Mathas - September 17, 2013
Yole Developpement just unveiled a new market and technology patent investigation: LED Phosphors and Down-Converters. According to the researcher, more than 40 litigation cases involve phosphor IP. The report identifies the key players, provides an overview of phosphor-related IP litigation and licensing, with detailed analysis. Here’s an overview:
According to the researcher, more than 20,000 patents have been identified and 4,500 relevant patents have been selected for analysis. These are segmented by type in the report and organized into such materials segments as:
- Quantum dots
The report also places special emphasis on the emerging LED phosphor IP in China. One point of interest is that Taiwan-based packagers are notably absent which also accounts for some of the litigation activities.
Fifteen major players are profiled in the report, giving their portfolio analysis, time evolution of patent filing by segments, as well as key patents, citations, collaborations, litigations and licensing.
