A blank page for Yahoo

-July 23, 2012

Last week, Yahoo chose Marissa Mayer to run Yahoo for about $71 million over the next five years, according to regulatory documents Yahoo filed—and it could top $120 million if an extra batch of stock grants that she is eligible for comes through.

Who is Marissa Mayer?  Here are a few facts:

1-      • She was the first female engineer at Google and employee number 20.

2-      • She designed the “blank home page of Google.”

3-      • She interviewed Lady Gaga on YouTube (over 2 million hits).

4-      • As of Sunday, July 22, she hadn’t updated her LinkedIn or Facebook profile.

5-      • At 37, she is the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

6-      • She's expecting a baby boy on Oct 7.

Marc Andreessen, co-founder of Netscape and a venture capitalist, believes that Marissa Mayer is a smart choice to run Yahoo (YHOO), according to comments made last week during Fortune Brainstorm Tech in Aspen.
