I bumped into Ramin Neshati and got a quick update on PCIe 4 (peripheral component interconnect express generation 4). Don’t worry, PCIe will not be left out of the IoT party! Plus, the OCuLink spec will be finished this year and will beat Thunderbolt because it's free tech that's not married to a Cupertino fruit company. And, with SFF-8639 connectors, PCIe can hot swap SAS and sATA systems and fulfill his declaration from two years ago that "all future client-based storage attachments will use PCI-Express.”
