5 Engineers: What will engineers do when they retire?
- January 25, 2013
Welcome to our 5 Engineers section, part of this blog and our Fun Friday newsletter, where we toss out a question and invite our audience to respond with their wittiest answers. In October 2012, we asked readers of 5 Engineers what question they would like thrown out to the group for response.
Last week we shared the second of these questions: Does the future excite you or terrify you? Post your comment here.
This week we’re featuring another question, this one from readers EDHBill and Model A:
Large numbers of Baby Boomer engineers will be retiring in the next few years. What will engineers do when they retire? Will they find was to give back to the engineering community?
Model A noted in his comment that they volunteer at a train museum and have plans to volunteer there full time retirement. “Being an electrical engineer and now moving into the realm of mechanical engineering, working with those magnificent steam engines from the days of old, is still a learning experience. I actually look forward to retirement since I now have something exciting to retire to.”
Post your short answer to the question below, or share your own question here and we’ll consider it for future 5 Engineers posts.
Be sure to stay tuned to this blog for more 5 Engineers questions in the weeks to come.
