&& PREVIOUS FINALIST | MAIN | NEXT FINALIST >> Category: Mixed-Signal ASSPs Finalist: MxL7001 TV-tuner IC (MaxLinear) The MaxLinear MxL7001 is the industry’s smallest TV-tuner IC. The highly integrated device represents a breakthrough in these applications because it consumes minimal board space. The 1.9×1.9-mm, single-die MxL7001 uses CMOS process technology to consume only 65 mW of power and integrates channel filtering to eliminate the need for external SAW (surface-acoustic-wave) filters and an IF amplifier and loop filters to eliminate the need for external parts. The tuner has a VHF-tuning range of 188 to 198 MHz and a UHF-tuning range of 470 to 770 MHz. Future product extensions of MxL7001 will support other mobile-television standards, such as DVB-H (digital-video broadcast-handheld). The combination of analog, digital, and RF functions on one chip makes this part an innovation nominee for 2007. |
