IEEE 1588 and multicore processor combo lowers mobile backhaul costs.
Carolyn Mathas - September 30, 2012
LSI Corporation and Microsemi are integrating Microsemi’s IEEE 1588 timing protocol into LSI’s Axxia communications processors providing network OEMs increased interoperability, reduced cost and faster time-to-market. The combination supports both legacy and Ethernet-based backhaul so that service providers can deploy Ethernet-based backhaul while maintaining existing network investments. The solution provides performance and determinism benefits including real-time integrity, accuracy, and synchronization. The LSI communication processors integrate such key features as switching, control and transport, simplifying system creation and deployment and lowering costs. The LSI Axxia processors with Microsemi PTP technology are available. Contact company for pricing and delivery. For more information visit LSI Corporation.
