Agilent adds LTE-A carrier aggregation support

-October 30, 2013

Agilent technologies has added support for LTE-A (LTE-Advanced) carrier aggregation for its T4010S LTE RF and T4020S LTE RRM (protocol) test systems. LTE-A, which has data rates up to 100Mbps, has a carrier-aggregation feature where up to five carriers (service providers) can share a 100-MHz bandwidth in five 20-MHz bands. That increases overall data dates by minimizing unused gaps in bandwidth. (See diagram below.)

The test systems let you perform precompliance and compliance tests on chip sets and equipment. They consist of two T2010A LTE Wireless Communications Test Set (shown at left) and a T1530A combiner. LTE-A carrier aggregation test requirements are defined by the 3GPP and they provide support for the 3GPP TS 36.521-1 LTE RF test cases and TS 36.523-1 LTE protocol test cases.
