Analyzer observes DisplayPort HBR3 traffic

-March 01, 2017

The FS4500 protocol analyzer from FuturePlus Systems monitors all the HBR3 traffic between any DisplayPort source and any DisplayPort sink. Able to probe a DisplayPort bus at up to 8.1 Gbps, the FS4500 provides a complete view of all bus protocol on both the high-speed main link and the auxiliary channel.

The analyzer furnishes a mechanical, electrical, and software interface to the DisplayPort, offering full link-layer protocol analysis at 8.1 Gbps on one, two, or four lanes for a total of 32.4 Gbps. This single tool also supports DisplayPort versions 1.4, 1.3, 1.2, and 1.1a, as well as eDP (Embedded DisplayPort) 1.3. Quad-state LEDs indicate lane-by-lane activity status.

Probe Manager software running on a PC controls the FS4500 over a USB 3.0 connection in real time and defines complex protocol-aware filters. The software allows instant lane reversal and polarity inversion, while protocol-decode software decodes and time-correlates auxiliary and high-speed main link traffic.

The FS4500 DisplayPort protocol analyzer, including software, costs $80,000. Delivery takes four weeks ARO.
