Card brings rich set of audio functions to Raspberry Pi

-March 13, 2014

Jointly developed by element14 and Wolfson Microelectronics, the Wolfson audio card for the Raspberry Pi supplies multiple types of input sources and outputs to enable high-definition audio capture and playback. The sound card offers both line-in and line-out headphone and headset support, on-board stereo microphones, and digital stereo audio input and output (S/PDIF) to open a wide range of possibilities for Raspberry Pi users. It also includes an onboard power amplifier for directly driving loudspeakers.

There are hundreds of applications based on four key features—play, talk, record, and share—that can inspire developers to create and post their own ideas on the recently launched Raspberry Pi Projects resource page. The audio card even comes bundled with five high-definition audio files to demonstrate system capability.

The Wolfson audio card costs $33.62 and is available for purchase exclusively from Newark element14 in North America, Farnell element14 in Europe, and element14 in Asia Pacific.
