The Apple WWDC: Keynote Post-Mortem Puffery ;-)

So how'd I do? Lessee...with respect to non-iPhone unveilings, we have:

And what about the iPhone product line itself? Well, we've got:

  • A 3G-capable 2nd-generation product
  • Available in a few weeks, that's
  • Slimmer than its predecessor,
  • Includes built in GPS (along with Bluetooth A2DP, I bet, although this isn't yet explicitly listed in the feature set),
  • Comes in multiple colors,
  • And at a much lower price than its predecessor (with no 'nano' version required to hit $199, either!).
  • Of course there's also the v2 firmware release
  • And the finalized SDK, accompanied by a blizzard of programs (including plenty of games) developed using SDK betas

Granted, the iPhone doesn't (yet) have a videoconferencing-capable dual-camera configuration, and none of the other non-iPhone stuff I predicted last Friday (yet) came to pass. But as I said in my prior writeup about the non-iPhone stuff, "my confidence in any of these particular guesses isn't stellar." And it was clear ahead of time that the iPhone was going to get principal billing at this WWDC. All in all, I'm feeling pretty good about my prognostication skills this time around, further extending my prediction hit streak from past WWDCs and Macworld Expos.

What'd you think of today's keynote announcements?
