Broadband Lags in U.S.
Where does the U.S. rank in broadband penetration? A lousy twelfth, according to a report released yesterday by the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development. In sheer numbers, the U.S leads with 49.4 million broadbanders or about a third of the worldwide total. In penetration, the top four are Iceland, Korea, Denmark and the Netherlands. That's 26.7 connections per 100 inhabitants in Iceland versus 16.8 here, demonstrating the gulf between haves and have nots in the U.S. Lots can be gleaned from this report.
