Fairchild Semiconductor used its PowerTrench process in building the new FDMS7650 30V MOSFET. The company guarantees the device for a 0.99-mΩ maximum on-resistance at 36A with a 10V gate drive; resistance rises to a maximum of 1.7 mΩ at 125°C.

160M-sample/sec, 16-bit dual ADC works in base stations and instrumentation 8/17/2009

National Semiconductor recently announced the low-power, 16-bit, 160M-sample/sec, dual-channel-pipeline ADC16DV160 ADC. The IC features differential inputs and dual-rate LVDS (low-voltage-differential-signaling) outputs.

Octal power-converter-control chip uses PMBus 8/10/2009

Linear Technology Corp’s new LTC2978 monitoring-and-control chip supervises eight switching power converters. You communicate with the IC over the PMBus (power-management bus).

Microchip Technology has announced a quad 12-bit DAC that remembers its settings in an internal EEPROM. The MCP4728 has a ±2%, 2.048V voltage reference, but you can also an external reference.

Analog Devices, Infineon collaborate on air-bag systems 6/25/2009

Analog Devices and Infineon Technologies have collaborated to produce next-generation automotive-air-bag systems. In the immediate future, the two companies will produce a hardware platform using parts from each company’s current offerings. Designers will be able to adopt this platform to begin development of code using a well-defined software interface.

Analog Devices’ new ADuM4160 bidirectional isolator provides UL (Underwriter Laboratories) 1577-rated, 5-kV isolation for 1.5 or 12-Mbps USB (Universal Serial Bus)-data lines.
