I cover mass storage, multimedia (audio, displays, 2-D and 3-D graphics, and still and video imaging), and PCs and peripherals for EDN. My background includes eight years in nonvolatile memory applications and ASIC design at Intel, preceded by three years as a system design engineer at Magnavox, where I cut my teeth on PLDs. I've also authored and co-authored several technical books for Annabooks Press. I earned a BSEE degree from Purdue University. Electronics and its impact on society (both positive and negative) fascinates me. Trends in the electronics industry are at the core of today's Information Age. Innovations based on technical, economic, and moral concerns will ensure a higher quality of life for all humans and improve our environment. Engineering, a unique blend of the scientist's theoretical creativity and the tangible reality of the marketplace, is the place where these breakthroughs will occur. I joined EDN because I had been a faithful reader for over a decade and felt that the magazine is uniquely qualified to provide timely, concise, yet comprehensive information to help solve your engineering challenges. I also believe that readers and editors have a lot to learn from each other, so don 't be shy about contacting me at my email address.
