Finalist: DS4026 10-to-51.84-MHz TCXO (Maxim Integrated Products)

System designers of data-acquisition equipment need a good voltage reference and an accurate clock. They can derive or calculate most other inputs. Another principle of data-acquisition-system design is that inherent accuracy is preferable to potentiometers and calibration routines. The DS4026 oscillator provides performance of ±1 ppm over temperature, a —140-dBc/Hz phase noise, and a temperature sensor that the system microprocessor can query. Each part is stabilized and compensates for crystal anomalies that may be present. The devices cost $20 each (1000).
