Category: Analog ICs
Finalist: LTC6102 current-sense amplifier (Linear Technology)

The LTC6102 current-sense amplifier simplifies the difficult high-side-current-sensing application. The device has a 10-μV offset voltage, meaning that it provides precise current sensing in computer and battery-charger applications. The LTC6102HV version has a 105V common-mode range and finds use in applications that may experience automotive-load dump and 48V telecom and POE (power-over-Ethernet) applications. The low-voltage version sells for $1.72 (1000), and prices for the high-voltage version start at $2.06 (1000).
