Finalist: CX20562 USB speakers on a chip (Conexant)
Conexant’s CX20562 speakers-on-a-chip device combines the functionality of a digital/voice processor, an audio codec, and a Class D amplifier. The chip set includes stereo, high-fidelity 24-bit DAC for music rendering; a built-in, echo-free speakerphone with wideband AEC (acoustic echo cancellation); and a noise-reduction hardware DSP (digital-signal processor). An integrated 1.2W Class D amplifier suits the CX20562 for use as the pre-amp for larger powered speakers.
The chip set features advanced DSP algorithms for superior audio and voice quality, including BrightSound, Night mode, Echo-free, and noise reduction. The BrightSound sound-processing algorithm uses dynamic range compression and equalization for an improved audio signal in low or flat source-sound levels. Night-mode technology maintains the background sound-signal quality and increases vocal clarity. The Echo-free advanced wideband AEC DSP diminishes feedback. And a high-performance DSP-array microphone uses Conexant’s beam-forming technology, combining multiple microphone signals into a beam that focuses on the person making VOIP (voice-over-Internet Protocol) calls.
