Here’s a list of micro-inverter companies (and some proposed new installations)

Reader Jim K left a comment on Monday’s post, “Micro-inverters offer one solution for optimizing solar efficiency,” asking for a list of micro-inverter companies. As mentioned, Enphase is the only one that I know of that’s shipping product, but here’s a list of companies which have made announcements at least of their intention to sell micro-inverters:

Here’s an interesting spreadsheet maintained by the California Solar Initiative that lists proposed solar installations that are applying for incentives under the California Solar Initiative. One of the columns lists “Inverter” and you can sort the spreadsheet by inverter manufacturer. The projects listing “Enphase” are using a micro-inverter(s), and it looks like there are about 800 of them. (This is irrespective of the size of the installation.)

The pointer to the CSI spreadsheet is via GreenTech Media, an excellent source for solar news.

Greentech Media also has a more complete listing of micro-inverter companies. Some of those mentioned above are not actually microinverters, they are instead "DC-DC" converters installed on each panel (e.g., eIQ). All are "per-module" though, which means that they all provide the key benefits of per-module MPPT and fault isolation. Here's GTM's latest list of the folks in this space:

Why are we talking about solar inverters in the LED section (an LED power "on" indicator is not enough reason...)?

I love the specialization in LEDs here - I respectfully suggest we do not water the S/N ratio down with off topic coverage.

While I enjoy all of your editorial coverage, Margery, this subsite should just be about LEDs and their driver/opto issues/topics, nothing more. Please pull it, maybe moving it over to the PowerSource blog where it belongs.

Thanks.

Andy, thanks for flagging this - the LED column is only supposed to pull from my posts tagged as such. I'm off to talk with IT - and perhaps find that my tagging is wrong. Thanks again.
