IEEE Council on EDA to Host “Smart Grid for the 21st Century” Talk by
CEDA, Cadence to Sponsor Live Webcast of ICCAD Keynote Session to Community Members Unable to Attend
The IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) will host a luncheon presentation titled, “Smart Grid for the 21st Century,” by Byron Washom of the University of California, San Diego, during the International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD).
Washom’s presentation will be held Tuesday, November 3, at noon in the Sierra Ballroom at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, Calif. He will offer a look at UC San Diego’s pioneering projects to meet 20% of its supply from renewable energy, accomplish 20% permanent load shifting through energy storage, and reduce its demand through C3 technologies.
The luncheon, part of CEDA’s popular Distinguished Speaker Lecture Series, is open to all full conference and Tuesday conference only registrants.
Additionally, CEDA and Cadence Design Systems will offer a live webcast of the Keynote, “Impact of Cloud Computing on Extreme Scale Analytics Platforms,” by IBM Fellow Dr. Hamid Pirahesh to be held Monday, November 2, from 9-10:30 a.m. (P.S.T.). The webcast, for those from the community who are unable to attend ICCAD, is free, but limited to first 600 registrants. About the IEEE Council on EDA
The IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) provides a focal point for EDA activities spread across six IEEE societies (Antennas and Propagation, Circuits and Systems, Computer, Electron Devices, Microwave Theory and Techniques, and Solid State Circuits). The Council sponsors or co-sponsors over a dozen key EDA conferences, including the Design Automation Conference (DAC) and the International Conference on Computer Aided Design (ICCAD), Design Automation and Test in Europe (DATE) and events at Embedded Systems Week (ESWeek). The Council also publishes IEEE Transactions on CAD, as well as the newly launched IEEE Embedded Systems Letters. Since its founding, the Council has expanded its support of emerging areas within EDA such as nanoscale systems, sponsored new initiatives including the Distinguished Speaker Series and is increasing recognition to members of the EDA profession via awards such as the A. Richard Newton and Phil Kaufman Awards. The Council welcomes new volunteers and local chapters. For more information on CEDA, visit: www.c-eda.org.
