Quality and Reliability Expert Joins DfR Solutions
Dr. Randy Kong, Formerly of Microsoft, Will Head Seattle Office

College Park, MD – November 3, 2009 – DfR Solutions, a leader in quality, reliability, and durability (QRD) solutions for the electronics industry, is very proud to announce the establishment of a Washington branch office. Located in Seattle, this office will allow for closer customer interaction with local consumer electronic OEMs, aerospace manufacturers, and system integrators.

The Seattle office will be headed by Dr. Randy Kong, an industry renowned expert in the fields of process reliability qualification, component engineering, and meeting OEM reliability requirements. Dr. Kong possesses over eighteen years of experience in reliability risk analysis of product and technology development. He has also founded reliability and failure analysis programs for three companies.

“I have always been impressed by DfR's broad expertise, customer focus, and industry leading reputation over the years,” said Dr. Randy Kong. “It is exciting to join the DfR team in supporting the growing customer bases in the Northwest. I have spent my career establishing quality and reliability programs and teams, resolving major material, component, and system product design and manufacture issues, and managing risks across the global supply chains in the electronics industry. I truly look forward to the opportunities of bringing the valuable DfR "solutions" to serve our customers.”

Prior to joining DfR Solutions, Dr. Kong held many management roles and was responsible for establishing a failure analysis lab through his work at Hewlett-Packard. Most recently at Microsoft, Randy co-founded the reliability engineering group for the hardware division and led the development of a component engineering database which captured application-specific requirements for semiconductors, opto-electronics, and electro-mechanical components. In 2008, he successfully established quality/reliability processes which emphasized the Design for Excellence (DfX) principles. Randy has published 16 papers in peer-reviewed journals and books and currently holds 20 US patents. Additionally, he has delivered lectures, trainings, and research presentations to over 25 industry and academic venues.
