RadioPro

RadioPro is a Wi-Fi internet radio reference design based on the company’s UniFi single-chip Wi-Fi platform. RadioPro provides wireless streaming of internet radio via Wi-Fi, without the need for a PC, and supports over 11,000 radio stations through a dedicated internet radio portal. With a bill of materials (BOM) of less than $15, CSR’s RadioPro is the lowest cost internet radio platform available today, and comes with the added advantage of being software upgradeable.

RadioPro is CSR’s complete reference design for creating a Wireless Internet Radio device. RadioPro is based on two low power chips from CSR: UniFi-1, CSR’s single-chip WiFi solution and the Multimedia Application Processor (MAP), a highly integrated chip with a RISC processor, a DSP and a stereo codec. The UniFi-1 chip manages the wireless communication while the MAP controls the audio flow from the radio stations, decodes the audio and displays the user interface. With electronic BOM of under $15 in volume, RadioPro is the lowest-cost solution for wireless Internet Radio available today. The low cost BOM of RadioPro enables end products in the range of $50-60, a fraction of the price of existing Internet Radio Devices. The RadioPro reference design includes all the hardware files and the software to design a wireless internet radio. The hardware files contain schematics, BOM and gerber files. RadioPro software contains the hardware drivers, the Wi-Fi firmware, the streaming protocols and the audio codecs that are required for the development of the Radio. RadioPro includes a software development kit that allows customers to modify the source code, compile and debug the code to make all the required changes for their end product. RadioPro provides a very flexible development environment that meets customer needs, from simple changes of the user interface to replacing the portal provider.
