  • Help save a part of engineering history
  • Great news! The Telephone Museum will soon have a real home in Waltham, Mass. (pronounced WalTHAM). If you know the area, the site will be at the former Jordan's Furniture store on Moody St. I look forward to visiting.

  • Rule of Thumb #4: Skin depth of copper
  • If skin depth is about [sqrt(2microns/f(GHz)] but resistance is higher about 1 GHz because of surface roughness, what might a typical impedance be at 14GHz?

  • Make schematic symbols understandable
  • When I was Design Ideas editor, I'd get all kinds of schematics. Some were hand drawn and scanned. To get some consistency, I created a PowerPoint file with symbols for contributors (especially the person when sent in had-drawn schematics) could copy and paste them into their diagrams.
