Einstein’s relatively funny photo
It’s a perfect picture of what this blog is about: serious fun. It’s also one of my favorite pop culture photos and there’s a good story behind it.
Word is that when a UPI photographer asked good old Al to smile for the birdie on his 72nd birthday (March 14, 1951), Einstein was so tired of grinning that day that he instead stuck out his tongue.
Reports are that Einstein loved the photo and asked for copies, one of which he signed for the photographer. That signed copy sold at auction for $74,324 in June 2009.
Not bad for a photo.
