RF MCU packs sub-GHz radio
Based on an energy-efficient 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+ architecture, the SAM R30 offers ultra-low-power sleep modes with wake from GPIO, serial communication, or real-time counter. The part typically draws less than 500 nA from a 1.8 V battery supply. Able to operate within a frequency range of 769 MHz to 935 MHz, the SAM R30 allows designers to implement a point-to-point, star, or mesh network. Microchip’s free MiWi point-to-point/star network protocol stack helps developers get started quickly.
The SAM R30 system-in-package is available in two QFN packages. Housed in a QFN32, the microcontroller costs $4.11 each in lots of 10,000 units. The QFN48 version costs $4.26 each in lots of 10,000 units. Also available is a development board with an onboard embedded debugger and current measurement circuitry. The ATSAMR30-XPRO development board sells for $65.
