Accelerometers furnish analog output

Kionix is complementing its medium-g digital offerings with the KX220 series of analog accelerometers, offering ±20 g and ±40 g full-scale measurement ranges. These triaxial accelerometers are outfitted with a factory-programmable low-pass filter and accommodate bandwidths from 4.5 kHz to 8 kHz.

With their higher g range and bandwidth, the ±20 g KX220-1071 and ±40 g KX220-1072 accelerometers are targeted to assist in applications ranging from vibration monitoring to shock and impact detection and measurement. They can be used in machine health and diagnostic monitoring, industrial automation, robotics, and manufacturing process control.

The sense element in both the KX220-1071 and KX220-1072 is hermetically sealed at the wafer level by bonding a second silicon lid wafer to the device using a glass frit. A separate ASIC device packaged with the sense element provides signal conditioning and self-test functions.

Housed in 10-pin, 3×3-mm LGA packages, the KX220-1071 and KX220-1072 accelerometers operate from a 1.8 VDC to 3.6 VDC supply and consume just 0.25 mA at 3.3 V. Pricing for the series is $10/pc.
