Chip-on-board LEDs deliver high lumen output

-October 15, 2017

Optimized for high drive currents, Cree’s XLamp CMA LED arrays provide more than 2X the lumen density of its standard-density CXA2 LEDs. These metal-based chip-on-board LEDs are compatible with existing holders and optics for the CXA2 family, enabling designers to boost the lumen output of their products with minimal redesign.

The CMA series comprises five LEDs with LES (light-emitting surface) sizes ranging from 9 mm to 23 mm to address a variety of applications. The CMA1516, with the smallest LES, offers a lumen output range of 1400 lm to 4800 lm and a current range of 450 mA to 1050 mA. The CMA3090, with the largest LES, has a lumen output range of 7300 lm to 21,700 lm. This LED comes in 48 V and 72 V versions with respective current ranges of 1800 mA to 3600 mA and 1200 mA to 2400 mA.

Based on Cree’s EasyWhite bins, the CMA LEDs are available with CCTs (correlated color temperatures) of 2700K to 6500K and standard CRI (color rendering index) values of 70, 80, and 90, as well as a high-fidelity CRI value of 98.

Samples of the XLamp CMA LED arrays are available now. Production quantities have standard lead times.
