  • Coreless power design for high magnetic field environments
  • Those interested in this topic may also want to take note of the effort by CERN - the European particle/nuclear physics research center - dating back at least to 2013 to develop magnetic field tolerant DC/DC converters for research applications in which strong / non-shieldable magnetic fields exist. Please see http://project-dcdc.web.cern.ch/project-dcdc/ and references therein. It would be interesting to know the efficiency of this GB350 module but it does not seem to be publicized on the company's website. I'm not sure why this would be a guarded secret?

  • High frequency Helmholtz coils generate magnetic fields
  • Yes, I think you are right that my language about this was not very precise. It is a (quite standard) narrowband impedance-transforming network. I agree it is not in this case being applied to match the source impedance, just to transform the load impedance.
